HVAC Internship Opportunity for PHS Seniors Coming Soon
This January, Pryor Public Schools will begin a unique internship opportunity for senior students, HVAC Internship. A student enrolling in this program will work alongside the Pryor Maintenance Department specializing in HVAC. For more information on our HVAC program follow the link: HERE
Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration introduces students to a major sub-discipline of mechanical engineering, the principals and fundamentals of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Instruction focuses on the fabrication, system installation, use of diagnostic equipment and the maintenance and troubleshooting of these various systems. Students learn how to work with electrical testing equipment; plastic, steel and copper pipe and tubing; sheet metal; hand tools; and specialized tools of the trade. In support of students' understanding of the systems introduced, students study thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer; electricity and electrical systems; and hydronics, radiation and convection. Safety procedures and appropriate use of tools are also emphasized.
In addition to the classroom instruction, students will also participate in a four-day internship with the school maintenance department. During the internship, students will have the opportunity to work with experienced HVAC and electrical technicians and learn how to maintain and repair the school's HVAC and electrical systems. The internship component of the course is an important part of the learning experience. It allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-world problems. It also gives them the opportunity to network with professionals in the trades.
This course is a great opportunity for students who are interested in a career in the HVAC or electrical trades. The course will provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in these fields.

If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning, or weekend, please text or email us “Handle with Care” with your child’s name and school. Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience, or help during the day. We will relay this message to his/her teachers to let them know to proceed with extra care.
