In Roosevelt Elementary’s lower elementary art lab, second-grade students have been diving into the creative worlds of two of the most influential painters in history—Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso.

After studying Van Gogh’s expressive brushwork and colorful style, students turned their attention to Picasso’s bold abstract approach. They explored how Picasso’s imaginative works transformed the art world and compared the two artists’ lives and techniques.

Inspired by Picasso’s abstract influence, students created their own "weirdness" using black Sharpies and watercolor—creativity at its finest.

These student masterpieces will be on display April 25–26 at The Gallery, part of the Pryor Area Arts & Humanities Council, located at 6 North Adair.

Everyone is invited to stop by and experience the artistic journey of our young Tigers!
