On Tuesday, April 15, Pryor High School’s concert bands performed at the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) State Contest in Jenks, competing in Class 5A.
The Symphonic Band delivered a standout performance, earning Superior Ratings from all three judges in both concert performance and sight-reading. With a superior rating already earned by the marching band this past fall, the ensemble qualified for the prestigious OSSAA Sweepstakes Award—an impressive accomplishment.
Pryor’s Concert Band also achieved high marks, earning an Excellent Rating on stage and a Superior Rating in sight-reading.
Pryor is one of only six high schools in Class 5A to have two performing ensembles qualify and compete at the state level—an achievement that highlights the depth and strength of the program.
“I am so very proud of our band students and staff for their artistry and hard work this year. It is absolutely a group effort,” said Pryor Band Director Kevin Speakman.
