Henning and Morrison in front of sign

Students at Pryor High School have another reason to take pride in their campus. The Oklahoma State Department of Education has named the Pryor High School Media Center as the February 2025 Library of the Month.

Librarian Sheri Henning and library assistant Marshel Morrison have teamed up to reimagine the space, transforming it into a welcoming, student-centered hub on campus. Their goal--to create an environment where students want to gather, relax, and connect.

Henning has elevated the library’s atmosphere with colorful signage and artfully arranged conversation hubs. New game stations offer students a chance to unwind with board games and puzzles, providing a much-needed break from digital distractions.

Recognizing the library’s potential as a showcase for student creativity, Henning collaborated with PHS teachers to repurpose the library's large glass walls and the adjacent learning lab as display windows for class projects and student hobbies. She has also refreshed the book collection, weeding out outdated titles and expanding the young adult and graphic novel sections to better serve today’s readers.

Meanwhile, Morrison has led the charge in transforming underused space within the library into the Tiger Boutique, giving students a unique on-campus thrifting experience where they can browse and shop for gently used items.

Located at the heart of Pryor High School, the library is not only a beautiful architectural feature but also quickly becoming the social center of campus life. Thanks to the creative vision and hard work of Ms. Henning and Ms. Morrison, the PHS Library is more than a place for books—it's a place where students belong.
