Board of Education

The Pryor Public Schools Board of Education is responsible for adopting policies, overseeing the budget, and monitoring the district’s progress. Board members are elected to serve five-year terms, with each member representing a specific ward within the school district.

To serve, board members must reside within the district, maintaining a close connection to the community they represent. Through their leadership and oversight, the Pryor Board of Education ensures the district continues to thrive and meet its strategic objectives.

Approval of the following sub accounts and fundraisers for the 2024-2025 school year as presented.

Approval for the girls soccer coaches to use school transportation to travel to Gulf Shores, AL, April 2-6, 2025.  

Approval for Nathan Smith and Dawson Alt to use school transportation to travel to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Convention in San Antonio, TX, April 2-6, 2025.  

Approval for the LifeSmarts team and coaches to travel out-of-state to participate in the National LifeSmarts Championship to be held April 24-27, 2025 in Chicago, IL. 

Approval of AG Teachers to use school transportation to travel out of state in March through  July, 2025, to Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, and Indiana to purchase student show projects and deliver donations.

Voted to approve the resignations of Frank Messick – Pryor District Maintenance, Kacey Townsend – Jefferson Elementary Nurse, Brittany Trowbridge – Pryor Middle School Teacher (effective May 23, 2025) and the retirement of Barbara Cook – Lincoln Elementary Special Education Teacher (effective May 23, 2025).  

Voted to approve hiring staff for the Tiger Pride After School Program as presented. 

Voted to approve extra duty, professional development stipends and salary adjustments as submitted for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Voted to approve the district's capacity to accept transfers for the fourth quarter of the 2024-2025  school year. 

Voted to approve the employment Turner and Associates, PLC for the preparation of the 2024- 2025 financial statements and supporting workpapers for the Auditor and the 2025-2026  Estimate of Needs (S.A.&I. Form 2661R06) and 2025-2026 Publication Sheet (S.A.&I. Form 2662R06, Exhibit “Z”) to be included in the form prescribed by the State of Oklahoma for the  Pryor School District. 

Voted to employ David Clanin as auditor for the fiscal 2025-2026 school year and to enter into a  contract to perform the audit of the fiscal 2024-2025 school year. 

Took no action, in the absence of the President and/or Clerk, to appoint an acting President and/or acting Clerk for the School District to execute any and all documents pertaining to setting the maturities, date, time and place of the bond sale as both the President and the Clerk were present. 

Voted to approve a resolution determining the maturities of, and setting a date, time and place for the sale of the $13,565,000 Combined Purpose Building Bonds of this School District; and designating bond counsel for this issuance of bonds.  

Discussed upcoming school board business and identification of future special meeting dates. 

Superintendent's Report 

Congratulations to the following Tiger swimmers for qualifying to compete at the state meet.  Our swimmers represented Pryor well at the meet, with several setting PRs and dropping time  from the regional meet.

Congratulations to Ashlyn Masters for her state championship win in Junior High wrestling.  Ashlyn also made history over the weekend by becoming the first female wrestler in district  history to qualify for the high school state wrestling finals. Ashlyn finished as the silver  medalist! 

  

Pryor High School's library was recognized as the Library of the Month by the OKLibraries  publication from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Congratulations to media  specialist, Sheri Henning, and library assistant, Marshel Morrison, for their work.
