Position: Paraprofessional
Supervisor: Building Principal
Employment Terms: Ten (10) month Classified Annual Salary Contract
FLSA Qualification: Non-Exempt
General Job Description: Performs any combination of following instructional tasks in classroom to assist teaching staff of public elementary or secondary school. Implement special education or related services for a class and/or provide direct assistance to students. Duties will vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of the student’s disabilities.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software. Must possess an Oklahoma Title I Paraprofessional Teaching Credential (Teaching Assistant) or meet the qualifications for the credential before employment can begin.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required. May make site or home visits when needed and appropriate. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Hearing/Speaking: Adequate to exchange information.

Qualifications
Education: Minimum of Bachelors degree in education from an accredited college or university.
A valid Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s)
A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.
Excellent attendance record
Excellent communication skills oral and written
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Best Instructional Practices
Positive interpersonal skills
Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education.
This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
A willingness and demonstrated abilities conducive to a continuous quest for quality education.

Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule: 182 Day Contract
Hours to Work: 7 hours / day

2. Prepares lesson outline and plan in assigned area and submits outline to teacher for review.
3. Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids such as bibliographies, charts, and graphs.
4. Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role playing.
5. Prepares, administers, and grades examinations.
6. Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
7. Confers with parents on progress of students.
